What we do

Interior Design encompasses the analysis, planning, design, documentation, and management of interior non-structural / non-seismic construction and alteration projects in compliance with applicable building design and construction, fire, life- safety, energy codes, and standards required by law. Through qualified means of education, experience, and examination, Interior Designers have a moral and ethical responsibility to protect consumers and occupants by designing code-compliant, accessible, and inclusive interior environments that address well-being while considering people’s complex physical, mental, and emotional needs.

Mission

The Interior Designers Association of Saskatchewan (IDAS) endeavors to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public through public education, networking, mentoring, and professional growth in the membership. IDAS acts as a resource demonstrating leadership, innovation and integrity in the development and promotion of interior design and self-regulation.

COMPLETE EDUCATION and apply for Intern Membership

Accumulate Experience

Intern members of IDAS must successfully complete the required supervised work experience and hours set forth by CIDQ. This work experience must be attained and confirmed by a direct supervisor and/or sponsor. (https://www.cidq.org/paths)

Upon successful completion of their interior design education and work experience, Intern members must apply for and pass all three parts(IDFX,IDPX and PRAC) of the NCIDQ examination. Note that Intern members are eligible to write the IDFX prior to completing their work experience if they choose to do so.

Apply for Registered Membership

After successful completion and passing all three NCIDQ required examinations, apply to become a Registered member.

After obtaining all the required education and work experience and passing all three parts of the NCIDQ examination, members become eligible to apply for Registered Membership with IDAS. Only once an applicant is approved by the IDAS Council can they use the title “Interior Designer” in the province of Saskatchewan.

Registered and Intern members must actively acquire continuing educational units (CEU’s) to meet the minimum requirements specified by IDAS. Throughout their careers, Registered and Intern members must continuously improve their knowledge, skills, and experience. This commitment ensures that Registered and Intern members stay updated with industry advancements, providing exceptional value and excellence in their practices, while upholding the integrity of our regulatory body.
